The best of Peru’s culture and all of the natural diversity of Peru passes by during this exciting motorcycle tour, and places this country in an unparalleled perspective.
From the start in the beautiful colonial city of Arequipa (UNESCO) this tour is a concatenation of highlights. The (mostly) paved roads are just spectacular. Absolute highlight is, of course, the lost Inca-city of Machu Picchu. If you want to get to know Peru, this is your motorcycle tour. This is what adventurous motorcycling is about !
In 17 days you will discover what Peru has to offer in cultural and natural beauty. Doing this on a motorcycle gives you an unforgettable experience.

This is a self-guided tour, you must be able to fix small technical problems, like a flat tire. We will provide you with a toolkit.
Before (!) you complete your booking and first deposit, please read our “Terms & Conditions” carefully.
Personal injury and death:
All our motorcycles are insured according to the minimum requirements of the authorities (SOAT). This means that the rider, his passenger AND third parties are covered for medical (!) costs.
Nevertheless, PeruMotors strongly advise their clients to obtain a health insurance with maximum coverage in Peru for the length of this tour, because you don’t want to depend on the Peruvian SOAT-insurance.
Damage to the rental motorcycle and third party property damage:
All our motorcycles are standard NOT INSURED for damage to the rental motorcycle AND for property damage to third parties. The Additional Damage Reduction Insurance covers only (!) damage to the rental motorcycle, with an excess/deductible of max. US$ 700.00, which is (in this case) also the amount of the “Security Deposit” (cash or Credit Card).
It is NOT possible to (re-)insure damage to third party property !
Without this insurance the rider/renter of the motorcycle is fully liable for all costs of damage to the rental motorcycle and third party property. In this case the “Security Deposit” is US$ 2,500.00 (cash or Visa), but the total costs are NOT LIMITED to this amount !
For this tour the premium is US$ 300.00 per motorcycle.
Please, read the complete insurance information for this tour.
Your arrival in Arequipa on day one. We will pick you up from the airport and bring you to the hotel. A PeruMotors rerpesentative will do the briefing about the upcoming tour. And he will arrange the necessary paperwork and the “Safety Deposit” for the motorcycle with you. The rest of the day is at leisure in Arequipa.
An early start. Finally it is time to start the engine and you are on the road. The first challenge is to get out of the big city. Then you follow the PanAmerican Highway north bound along the coast, passing several small towns, like: Camana and Atico. In the afternoon your arrival at the destination of today, just north of Chala. The spot is unique on a natural bay. Next to the hotel are very interesting Inca ruins.
Following the PanAmericana northbound, through one of the driest deserts in the world. On your way to Nasca, world famous for its geoglyphs and lines only visible from the sky. In the afternoon there is the possibility to do a half an hour flight over the famous pampa.
Again through the very dry desert, on our way to the most beautiful oasis in the Americas: Huacachina. An oasis as an oasis should look like. In the afternoon you have the possibility to ride the dune-buggies and do some sand boarding.
Back to the coast, heading for the little fisherman’s town: Paracas. Here the boat trip to the Islas Ballestas (“Poor-Man’s-Galapagos-Islands”) is scheduled. After the boat ride you can visit the spectacular Paracas National Reserve on your motorcycle.
A long spectacular riding day lies ahead of us. We leave the desert behind and ascend into the mighty Andes. Soon we will be on serious altitudes and the ride is fantastic. An ever changing scenery on well-maintained curvy and windy roads. We end up in the big city of Ayacucho.
A long ride through the heart of the Andes. Mostly paved, but there could be also some unpaved stretches, with high mountains and deep ravines. This is what motorcycling is about !
The road is not even straight for one mile. Crossing the Andes again on curvy roads. Via Limatambo to Cusco, the ancient capital of the Inca Empire.
Today is to explore the city and its surroundings. Stroll its little steep streets, the Plaza de Armas, local markets, the cathedral, museums, ruins of Saqsayhuaman and much more. Way too much for only 1 day.
From Cusco the ride into the ‘Sacred Valley of the Incas’. Here you can visit a variety of Inca ruins. Some well-known, some unknown, but all very interesting. You sleep in Ollantaytambo.
The absolute highlight of this tour: Machu Picchu.
There is still no road to this magical place. So, early in the morning you go by train to the little town of Aguas Calientes (Machu Picchu Pueblo). From there it is half an hour by bus to the entrance of the citadel. After your visit to the ruins you go back to Ollantaytambo by train.
Today we are back on the bikes again. On our way to Quincemil, a little tropical village on the east slopes of the Andes. The paved road down hill is spectacular ! Probably the best motorcycle road you have EVER ridden. We stay in a small family-owned hotel in the jungle, with a relaxing atmosphere.
Another extraordinary riding day, now uphill against the mighty Andes. As if you have to climb a wall with your motorcycle. The views are beautiful. After lunch in Macusani, you’ll reach the city of Juliaca on the Altiplano (the equivalent of New Delhi in Peru). The traffic is chaotic and a little difficult to pass, but it is an experience you’ll never forget.
You can visit the floating islands of the Uros peope and/or one of the real islands in the lake. The Uros people live for hundreds of years on the reet islands. They build everything out of reet, houses, boats and schools. In the afternoon you can walk around Puno, or hit the road again on your bike to explore the surroundings. It is up to you !
Crossing the Andes once again, now East to West, to the Colca Canyon, the deepest canyon in the world. The pay-offs are the spectacular views on the mighty Andes. The day ends near the town of Chivay. In the afternoon you can visit the local natural hot springs. You’ll love it !
An early start of the day, because the condors won’t wait for you. In about an hour you will reach “Cruz del Condor” in the heart of the Colca Canyon. Here you can see the Andean Condor in flight in its natural habitat. An amazing experience. After the condors, you’ll have to ride to the city where this adventure started: Arequipa. Where you will arrive in the afternoon.
Today we will bring you to the airport for your flight back home.
