Who told you that off-road riding has to be basic?
Not everybody wants to ride only on paved roads. It is getting more and more difficult to find interesting unpaved routes in southern Peru. But… this is our backyard, we know this region as the back of our hand. We found fantastic roads for dirt riding. During this tour we will ride about 40% of the total distance on gravel roads.
If you like the dust, this is your tour ! The emphasis of this tour is riding a motorcycle on dirt roads. And on the side we do some cultural visits, with the most important side: Machu Picchu.
So, why DeLuxe? Well, we know you want a good bed and a nice hot shower after an exhausting day on the road. We use fine tourist class hotels.
Please, remember: This is not an enduro tour. But you must have experience with dirt and gravel riding. And you must be in good shape. Do not underestimate the roads and the high altitudes we are riding on.

Before (!) you complete your booking and first deposit, please read our “Terms & Conditions” carefully.
Personal injury and death:
All our motorcycles are insured according to the minimum requirements of the Peruvian authorities (SOAT). This means that the rider, his passenger AND third parties are limited (!) covered for medical costs.
Nevertheless, we strongly advise our guests to get a health insurance with maximum coverage in Peru, for the length of this tour, because you don’t want to depend on the Peruvian SOAT-insurance.
Damage to the rental motorcycle and third party property damage:
All our motorcycles are standard NOT INSURED for damage to the rental motorcycle AND for property damage to third parties. The optional ‘Damage Reduction Insurance’ covers this kind of damage, with an excess/deductible of max. US$ 700.00, which is also the amount of the “Security Deposit” (cash or major credit card: Visa, MasterCard, Amex or Diners Club), and your maximum risk.
For this tour the insurance premium is US$ 240.00 per motorcycle.
Without this insurance the rider/renter of the motorcycle is fully liable for all costs of damage to the rental motorcycle and third party property. In this case the “Security Deposit” is US$ 2,500.00 (cash or major credit card), but your maximum risk is NOT LIMITED to this amount !
Please, read the complete insurance information for this tour.
You will arrive in Arequipa (Peru) on day one, the lively city in southern Peru.
We will pick you up from the airport and bring you to the hotel. Your tour guide will do the briefing for the whole group about the upcoming tour. And he will arrange the necessary paperwork and the “Safety Deposit” for the motorcycle with you.
The rest of the day is at leisure in Arequipa, a very nice colonial city with a friendly atmosphere.
It is finally time to start our engines. To get out of the city is our first challenge. Then in about 80 kilometers we will be on 4.000 meters. Time for a cup of coca-tea. We are on our way to the Colca Canyon, one of the deepest canyons in the world. And the natural habitat of the Andean Condor. We stay in a non touristic little town.
If we didn’t see any condors yesterday, we will go to the ‘Cruz del Condor’ to see these massive birds in flight. We are heading to the Cotahuasi canyon, also one of the deepest canyons in the world. Fantastic dirt and gravel, and let’s not forget: twisties and hairpins. What else can you ask for?
The little town of Cotahuasi is close to the deepest canyon in the world. Today we do a relative short ride, and a little hike to a spectacular waterfall in the canyon. In the afternoon we get rid of the dust in the local natural hot springs. Very relaxing !
An early breakfast, because today we have a real off-road challenge. More than 200 kilometers ! Only the last 40 kilometers are on pavement. After a lot of ascending and descending we will end up in the small town of Chalhuanca, where we end up in a nice hotel with an inviting swimming pool.
For the first 100 kilometers we follow the river Apurimac down stream. After the chaotic town of Abancay the ascend starts to a maximum of 4.300 meters. After the lunch in Curahuasi downhill to under 2.000 meters, and uphill again to 3.500 meters to the Cusco plateau. The last 60 kilometers we follow unpaved rural roads to the authentic Inca town of Ollantaytambo.
The absolute highlight of this tour: Machu Picchu. There is still no road to this magical place. So, early in the morning you go by train to the little town of Aguas Calientes (Machu Picchu Pueblo). From there it is half an hour by bus to the entrance of the citadel. After your visit to the ruins you go back to Ollantaytambo by train.
A relative short ride to the ancient capital of the Inca empire: Cusco. After lunch, your tour guide will take you on “The World Famous Walking City Tour in Cusco, Powered by PeruMotors”. This is a 2,5 walking tour through the city center of Cusco. The rest of the day is to explore the city and its surroundings. Stroll it’s little steep streets, the Plaza de Armas, local markets, the cathedral, museums, ruins of Sacsayhuaman and much, much more.
On rural unpaved back roads we ride to the midsize town of Sicuani. Lots of fun !
Over the Altiplano we ride to the largest lake in South America: Lake Titicaca. Situated half in Bolivia and half in Peru. The last 100 kilometers we look for the unpaved roads on the shores of the largest lake in South America.
Today the bikes are not available. This is probably de best rest day you ever had during a motorcycle tour. And you know you need it ! We stay in a very nice hotel, close to the Bolivian border. The hotel offers different interesting activities in the vicinity. You decide if you want to participate, or not. Just relaxing is also a very good option !
We are back on the bikes again. The longest day of the whole tour lies ahead of us. Now you understand why we had a resting day yesterday. Today we have to cross the Andes from East to West. The pay-offs are the spectacular views on the mighty Andes. The last part is the magnificent descend to the sub-tropical oasis town of Moquegua, famous for Pisco, avocados and copper.
The last riding day on the tour. We ride through the driest costal desert in the world. We even touch the Pacific coast for a bit. The tour ends in the heart of ‘the White City’ Arequipa. We will reach the city in the afternoon. In the evening our farewell dinner in one of the good restaurants in town.
Today we will bring you to the airport for your flight back home.
