Thailand: The Golden Buddha

Upon arrival at Bangkok airport, approximately 2 hours transfer to your hotel in Pattaya. At 16:00 hr. motorcycle hand over and tour briefing.

Your flight must arrive before noon today.

• If you stay 1 or more days in Bangkok before the tour, we will arrange your transfer from Bangkok to Pattaya.
• We will be more than happy to book extra nights for you in Bangkok and/or Pattaya.

In Thailand we have to ride on the left hand side of the road. For some of us that is something to get used to. Along the coast we ride to the border with Cambodia. After the border formalities we continue to the town of Pailin.

Leaving Pailin we take small rural roads passing rural village, rice paddies, orange farms etc. Before reaching Siem Reap we ride along the West Baray. Among five, the largest Baray at Angkor and one of the largest hand cut water reservoirs on Earth. It’s an easy gravel road, and along the lake (8 km) we will briefly stop next to a Buddhist temple and food stalls.

Early in the tour already the first absolute highlight of the tour: Angkor Wat.
We will visit the temple area on tricycles. Our local guide will share the history of this vast area.

Some of the sides we will visit, Ta Phrom (Jungle Temple), Angkor Thom, Bayon, and Angkor Wat Temple.

Back on the bikes again. From Siem Reap we head to the Thai border through endless rice fields and the ‘The Impenetrable jungle'. Then the border crossing  back into Thailand. Here we'll have to switch back to the left hand side of the road. The roads are wide and straight. We cover the distance to Buriram quickly.

We start the day visiting the Chang Race track, home of Thai Moto GP. Today we head north again along endless rice fields and through small villages to the city of Khon Kaen. Our city hotel is well located to take a look around the local streets or enjoy the in-house comforts.

Today, leaving the ‘cityscape’ behind we continue on main roads north , skirting around the towns of Udon Thani and Nong Khai before meeting with the Mighty Mekong River and riding to Chiang Khan, a charming touristic village by the Mekong River which is also your end destination for the day.

Today an early start for the longest riding day of the whole tour. Being the longest day of your ride, make sure you leave your hotel 8 AM latest! Following the Thai – Laos border, the roads are remote with endless curves, motorcycle riding doesn’t get any better than this! We pass mountains, rice fields, fruit plantations and small farm villages. Continue to Phu Hua Hom National park. This is Thailand off the beaten track.
From here a beautiful new road brings us to Nan. Excellent for motorcycling.

We've planned our resting day in a very nice hotel. You can relax and rest a little bit after a week of excellent riding.

But... we offer an optional half day ride in the in the vicinity of the hotel. They say it is the best riding in Thailand. Judge for yourself.

Today this road was made for motorcycling. Great roads, endless bends, not much traffic and stunning scenery will be our part. Just before reaching the hotel in Chiang Rai you will visit the remarkable Wat Rong Khun (White Temple) which is today recognized as one of the main attractions all over Thailand. Park in front of the temple. Take your time to explore this unique and fairly recently build temple. Your hotel is centrally located, plenty of restaurants within walking distance.

We ride into the legendary Golden Triangle where the three borders of Thailand, Myanmar and Laos meet. In the morning we do a boat ride into Laos.
We continue to Mae Sai, the most northern point of Thailand and one of the main border crossings to Myanmar. Here you can take a stroll and explore the busy border market.
Moving on over a narrow and steep road to the Kok River. Then to the hotel resort at Thaton.

Another great riding day lies ahead of you. At Mae Tang we turn right on 1095 and cross the mountains to Pai. This is the beginning of the road to Mae Hong Son, famous for having 1864 (!) bends of varying sharpness. Before we reach the hotel we stop at an Elephant Camp near Pai. After sunset you can stroll down along the walking street, taste food from the street food stalls or enjoy dinner at one of the many restaurants. Pai is the hippie capital of South East Asia. Enjoy!

Another very scenic riding day. It is the second part of the road famous for its 1864 bends of varying sharpness.
After lunch we continue to Mae Hong Son and up the hill to visit the Wat Phrathat Doi Kongmu. From here you have a great view over the city and its surroundings. Another short boat ride to the Karen Long Neck village. The Karen, a tribal minority, historically lived in the hills on the Myanmar side of the border. Return by boat to the pier and ride to the nearby hotel resort.

Already the last riding day of the tour. In the morning via a great winding road with wide twists we ride to a local War Museum. From Khun Yuam we continue to Mae Chaem on nice twisty back roads. An interesting stop at the Vachiratharn Waterfall. The tour ends with the surrender of the motorcycles at the rental station. In the evening we will have our farewell dinner in town.

This amazing trip ends with the transfer to the airport or your extension. Transfer to Chiang Mai International Airport.

At the moment of writing this itinerary the borders between Thailand and Cambodia are closed due to local incidents. If this is still the case in November 2026, we will ride an interesting alternative route on day 3, 4 & 5.
